Fill your home with the scents of Uncommon James 100% natural, soy wax candles. Our nontoxic and clean-burning candles are created without phthalates, parabens, and dyes. They are hand-poured and hand-scented in small batches with non-GMO, USA-grown wax. Plus, we even use a cotton wick that's lead- and nickel-free.

Not only are these candles you can feel confident in burning, but we also carefully craft scents that are going to define your home. New to Uncommon James candles? Our founder and CEO Kristin Cavallari recommends you start with some best sellers like our Nashville Citrus Candle, Hard Feelings Candle, and Tennessee Pine Candle. Nashville Citrus is for our fresh and zesty citrus lovers, we especially love this scent as a kitchen candle. Hard Feelings is an extension of our best-selling Hard Feelings Eau De Parfum, so if you love that fragrance you definitely need this candle. Tennessee Pine is a woody scent that will make a day at home feel extra cozy.

We also drop special seasonal scents throughout the year — be sure to check back regularly so you never miss the latest drop.

How to properly burn candles

For the first burn, start by trimming the wick to 1/2" with our wick trimmer, then burn until the entire melt pool (the wax you see on top) is melted. Wax has a memory so it will follow the first burn pattern, meaning if the top does not fully melt the first time it is more likely to tunnel. Using a wick trimmer before burning is important because it allows you to cut and shape the candle wick for a cleaner, safer, and more efficient burn. Trimming your candle wick helps extend the life of your candle, allows it to burn more evenly, keeps soot from building up on the glass, and helps keep the wax free of debris for a better fragrance burn.

Once the entire melt pool is melted and you’re ready to put out your candle, be sure to do so with a candle snuffer. This candle care tool will gently put out the flame which not only helps the wick last longer and burn better, but it also helps reduce smoke and soot. Using a candle snuffer also helps keep the candle clean of any embers, allows the candle to cool evenly, and helps keep the wick in its center placement.
