What National Clean Beauty Day Means To Us

A beauty brand is more than the glamorous photoshoots, product samples, packaging design, and lab visits. It’s also what goes on behind the scenes, it’s creating a clear vision and values. For us at Uncommon Beauty, that was defining what clean beauty means to us and following the strict guidelines we set in place when creating products. We always want you to feel confident in us and our formulas. So, for National Clean Beauty Day we’re hitting pause on everything else and going back to the beginning to share the vision and standards behind Uncommon Beauty. 

Founded by Kristin Cavallari in 2021, Uncommon Beauty started out with a simple mission — create a clean skincare line you can feel good about using every day. Creating Uncommon Beauty was important to Kristin because she prides herself on living a clean lifestyle and the skincare she previously used was no longer meeting her standards. She wanted skincare products that not only her, but her family and customers could feel confident in using every day. 

Starting out with the basics, we created a 5-step routine that can be used morning and night on all skin types. Then we started expanding into more specialized products that take skincare to a more personalized level. Uncommon Beauty is fully vegan, cruelty free, Leaping Bunny Certified, synthetic fragrance free, gluten free, silicone free, sulfate free, paraben free, petrolatum free, and phthalate free. We are also backed by Uncommon Clean™ — our own set of standards and definition of clean beauty.

What does Uncommon Clean™ mean?

The Uncommon Clean™ mission is to create clean, safe, and transparent skincare and fragrance products that you can feel confident using time and time again. While there’s no finite definition of “clean skincare” or “clean fragrance,” we hold our formulas to extremely high standards — everything must be vegan, Leaping Bunny certified, gluten free, silicone free, sulfate free, paraben free, petrolatum free, and phthalate free. Additionally, all skincare is synthetic fragrance free, our eau de parfum is EWG verified, and we banned over 2,700 ingredients from our skincare and fragrance product formulations that do not align with our standards. We are also 100% transparent about every ingredient in our skincare and fragrance formulas — nothing’s a secret here.
