If you’re anything like our founder and CEO Kristin Cavallari, then you probably pride yourself on living a clean lifestyle. That also means you’ve probably been hearing a lot about nontoxic candles and why you need them in your home. Which is why we’re here to break down the 5 things you should know about our nontoxic, clean-burning candles.
- What They’re Made From
Our nontoxic candles are made from 100% natural soy wax that is hand-poured and hand-scented in small batches. Even more specifically, we use non-GMO, USA-grown wax. We also use a higher fragrance load in Uncommon James candles, this makes the candles smell stronger and have a better hot throw (how the scent from a candle fills the room).
- What Potentially Harmful Ingredients We Don’t Use
All of our candles are created without phthalates, parabens, and dyes. We also use a cotton wick that is lead- and nickel-free. So you can burn our candles without having to worry about breathing in anything you don’t want.
- Why You Need Them
I think the real question is why wouldn’t you want Uncommon James candles? They’re nontoxic, clean-burning and made from ingredients you can trust. Plus, you can feel confident burning these around your family and pets. Not to mention, they smell amazing.
- How To Burn Them
For the first burn, start by trimming the wick to 1/2" with our wick trimmer, then burn until the entire melt pool (the wax you see on top) is melted. Wax has a memory so it will follow the first burn pattern, meaning if the top does not fully melt the first time it is more likely to tunnel. Using a wick trimmer before burning is important because it allows you to cut and shape the candle wick for a cleaner, safer, and more efficient burn. Trimming your candle wick helps extend the life of your candle, allows it to burn more evenly, keeps soot from building up on the glass, and helps keep the wax free of debris for a better fragrance burn.
Once the entire melt pool is melted and you’re ready to put out your candle, be sure to do so with a candle snuffer. This candle care tool will gently put out the flame which not only helps the wick last longer and burn better, but it also helps reduce smoke and soot. Using a candle snuffer also helps keep the candle clean of any embers, allows the candle to cool evenly, and helps keep the wick in its center placement.
- What Scents You Absolutely Need
Some of our favorite classic scents you need are Nashville Citrus, Tennessee Pine, and Campfire Cowboy. More recently, we’ve been absolutely obsessed with our Hard Feelings Candle. I mean who wouldn’t love our best-selling fragrance in a candle version for every room in their home?
You also have to keep an eye out for our limited-edition seasonal candle drops. Trust us, you don’t want to miss a single one.
