Here are a few ways to keep it looking brand new!


Fashion Jewelry

Quality: Our everyday Uncommon James jewelry is primarily created with brass metal that is plated with 14k gold, rhodium, platinum, or 14k rose gold. Some other materials might include resin or acetate. Many pieces also feature cubic zirconia. If a particular piece uses other materials, it will be listed on the product’s description. Our jewelry is also nickel-free and lead-free.

Daily Care: Protect your jewelry and its plating by removing it while swimming, showering, exercising, washing your hands, or applying any products such as perfumes, lotions, or hair products. We pride ourselves on the quality of our product; however, if your jewelry should be exposed to any of the above products, tarnishing may occur. Tarnishing may also be caused by the skin’s natural pH levels.

Cleaning Instructions: To keep your jewelry clean, wipe it with a soft cloth. Do not use jewelry cleaner.

Storing Instructions: When not in use, store each piece of jewelry in its respective Uncommon James pouch. They may also be hung on a jewelry stand or carefully stored within a jewelry organizer.

Vermeil Jewelry 

Ver-what? Repeat after us: ver-may (simple, right?) Now that you’ve got the pronunciation down, let’s talk details. Our jewelry is always created with high quality materials, but our Vermeil pieces take it to the next level with 18k gold, that’s 2.5 microns thick, layered over sterling silver and real, slightly included round-cut diamonds. This exclusive line brings a little luxury to your everyday, especially when properly cared for.

In order to be called Vermeil, the jewelry must meet the following quality conditions:

  1. Base material is sterling silver (92.5% pure silver + 7.5% other materials)
  2. Gold plating must be at least 10k (karats)
  3. Plating is at least 2.5 microns thick (1 micron = 1/1000th of a millimeter) 

Quality: Our Vermeil Collection is created with 18k gold layered over sterling silver and real, slightly included round-cut diamonds.

Diamond Certifications:

  • Color: H-G (Near Colorless)
  • Clarity: VS (Very Slightly Included)
  • Cut: Round

Daily Care: To keep your jewelry looking its absolute best, remove it while showering, swimming, exercising, washing your hands, and applying any hair products, perfumes, or lotions. We take pride in the quality of our jewelry, but if you expose it to any of those products tarnishing may occur. Tarnishing may also be caused by your skin’s natural pH levels. 

Cleaning Instructions: Do not use jewelry cleaner on your Vermeil jewelry. Instead, clean your jewelry by gently buffing it with a soft 100% cotton cloth (you can even use your Uncommon James jewelry pouch!)

Storing Instructions: When you’re not wearing your pieces, store them in the Uncommon James pouch or box they came in. You can also hang them on a jewelry stand or carefully place them in a jewelry organizer.

All of our UJ Home products are created with the utmost care.

Kitchenware

  • All of our kitchenware should be hand-washed with warm water and mild soap to protect the integrity of the copper, enamel, and wood.

Drinkware

  • All of our drinkware, from ceramics to glass, should be hand-washed with warm water and mild soap. They are not dishwasher or microwave safe.
  • For our glassware: Before pouring steaming hot drinks, pre-heat the glass or insert metal spoon to absorb some of the heat. 

Décor & Textiles

  • From pillows to dish towels, all of our products created with fabrics and textiles should be spot cleaned only. Do not clean them in the washing machine or dryer.
